We recognise that skin lesions and blemishes can be a source of discomfort and might be something you are self-conscious about. Provide Wellbeing offers minor skin procedures for various skin conditions from our new Clinic Centre on The Crescent in Colchester, Essex.

During an initial consultation, our experienced specialists will discuss your condition and treatment options, including all costs associated with the procedure, so you can make an informed decision about your care and take advantage of fast access to treatment. All of our procedures are outpatient services and do not require general anaesthetic. This service is not available on NHS-routes, so costs will apply.

Minor Skin Procedure | Consultation and Diagnosis

Dermatoscope 2

Our clinicians are specially trained in the use of a Digital Dermatoscope to aid in diagnosing skin conditions. This specialised piece of equipment illuminates and magnifies the surface detail of the skin, giving the clinician a clear visual of the area and increasing the speed and accuracy of a diagnosis compared to using the naked eye.

The clinician will make a diagnosis during the initial consultation. At that point, all treatment options will be discussed at length, and you can ask any questions about the procedure, costs, or aftercare.

If you already have a diagnosis and are looking into your options, the clinician will discuss any previous treatment you may have had and go through their recommended route towards reducing or removing the skin condition in question.

Skin Conditions

We commonly treat a variety of skin conditions including:

  • Benign moles: small, harmless growths of the skin caused by melanin
  • Small and large lipomas: soft, fatty lumps under the skin
  • Sebaceous cysts: fluid-filled lumps under the skin
  • Seborrheic keratosis: a common non cancerous skin growth. Usually brown, black or light tan which can look waxy or scaly and slightly raised
  • Skin tags: small clusters of skin tissue extending out from a stem
  • Spider naevi: small clumps of blood vessels on the surface of the skin

Treatment Information

Lesions located on the face

Due to the visibility of skin conditions on the face, we would look to remove any concerns you may have in this area as quickly as possible. The facial area contains many sensitive structures, so in order to ensure that treatment can be performed with minimal scarring or complications, we recommend that you book in for a discussion dedicated to facial lesions, during which you can bring up with the clinician any concerns elsewhere on your body as well.

Biopsy and histology

If you have a pigment lesion (mole), our clinicians will take a biopsy that will be sent to a laboratory for analysis. Most moles are benign or harmless, but if they are atypical or exhibiting changes, this could be a sign that they need further investigation. The results of the biopsy will then be returned to the clinic and you will be contacted to discuss the findings and the recommended treatment options.

Stitches

Stitches are usually not required for minor surgical procedures, but if they are needed, we use soluble stitches which means that you will not need to book a return appointment to have them removed.

We surveyed 52 Minor Skin Surgery patients from 2020-21, out of which 51 rated their experience positively, giving us a 98% satisfaction rate!

Pricing and appointments

Prior to being booked in for a Minor Skin procedure you will need to either attend an initial consultation in person or if preferred (and appropriate) an initial telephone consultation.

Minor Skin procedures can vary in price depending on the type of procedure you need. During your initial consultation, our clinicians will review all the available treatment options with you transparently and honestly. Please remember that prices start at £300 but can, and are likely to, increase based on factors such as the number of lesions to remove. Occasionally, the procedure cost may rise to £800. The clinician will confirm the actual price of your procedure at the initial consultation, where you can discuss treatment options further and your decision to proceed.
