As of February 2023, we are delighted to offer two ear care services, microsuction and custom ear moulds, from the Manor Street Livewell Clinic in Braintree, Essex. Alongside multiple outlets across East Anglia in Chelmsford, Colchester and Halstead, we are pleased to be offering ear care services from our newest Manor Street Braintree location.

Appointments are available to book every Tuesday between 15:00pm and 16:30pm. Treatment is swift and uncomplicated, allowing you to plan a visit to the clinic around your day. The procedures are known to be the safest and most comfortable method of ear wax removal and ear protection available, with appointments costing £70 for both ears. Appointments are carried out by an Audiologist or ENT Specialist Nurse.

A full list of payment terms and conditions can be found here.

Paul Cooke, Managing Director at Provide Wellbeing said, ‘We are delighted to be servicing the Braintree community directly from this new location in the centre of the town. It is worrying to realise how many people struggle with their ear care every year, with an estimated 2.3 million people experiencing problems with excessive ear wax, which can unfortunately lead to hearing loss or tinnitus. We have seen a steady increase in the need for this service among our patients, many of whom have been feeling dizzy and unwell or are worrying about related hearing loss, so we are glad to be able to provide them with comfort and specialist support.  If you would like to find out more you can either call the phone number detailed below or watch videos on our website where our clinicians explain more about this treatment.’

Call the Provide Wellbeing team today to enquire about an appointment 0300 303 9966. As an independent clinic, we can offer ongoing support for our patients.

Your custom ear moulds will be ready to take away with you at the end of the 15 minute appointment.

In rare circumstances, the Audiologist may not be able to fit your custom ear moulds if there is a significant buildup of wax. If this is the case you may be required to book a Microsuction appointment. If you feel this may be the case, mention this when you book with us.

For more information about our custom ear moulds services, visit our dedicated page here.

A pair of custom ear moulds costs £50. An ear mould cost depends on whether they are made bespoke or are bought pre-made – the £50 fee at Provide Wellbeing covers the cost of creating an impression of your ears, choosing a colour, and then getting your custom ear moulds made while you wait.

Microsuction is a safe and effective method of ear wax removal. A binocular operating microscope (which allows depth-perception and magnification) is used to look directly into the ear canal and a very fine sterile suction device is used to remove the wax without damaging the ear canal. This is a more recent popular method as it is safer than ear syringing and more comfortable.

For more information about our Microsuction services, visit our dedicated page here.

If no ear wax can be found during your Microsuction appointment, you will be charged 50% of the price of the procedure – £30 for Audiologist appointments and £40 for GP appointments. If you believe that you have a build-up of wax in your ear but have not had this confirmed by a health professional such as a nurse or GP, we recommend that you are seen by a health professional first to ascertain if the build-up of wax is the cause of your hearing problems before booking an appointment.

Yes, there is no lower age limit for Microsuction treatment. However, the procedure will not be performed if your child is unable to keep their head still or is fearful of the procedure.

Ear blockages in children

Children are typically more prone to middle ear infections because of the structure of their Eustachian tubes. The Eustachian tubes drain fluid from the ears, and when they are blocked, this can result in a build-up of fluid that causes an ear infection. The sensation of pressure when you have an ear infection is due to the fluid pressing on the eardrum, which can cause it to rupture or ‘burst’. Children have Eustachian tubes that are shorter, softer, and more horizontally orientated than adults’, which can mean that they are more at risk of fluid build-up.

If you are concerned that your child may have an ear infection, check their symptoms on the NHS website before considering Microsuction.

Microsuction ear wax removal can be a solution for children with blocked ears. The discomfort of having blocked ears can be particularly acute for children, so Microsuction offers a quick, painless treatment by one of our Audiologists who will put your child at ease as much as possible. Ear Microsuction for children can depend on the age of the child and their level of comfort being able to lie still while the Microsuction tool is used to gently remove the ear wax buildup.
