Paul is amazing and am glad to be pain free once again
A highly professional and caring service.
Paul was a very thorough and caring practitioner. All aspects of my personal health profile were discussed along with the possible treatment of the left knee problem. He evaluated the area carefully and administered treatment painlessly. I've had similar treatments in the past and this was my first treatment with Olestin. I'm already feeling the benefits and look forward to increasing the level of my activity and wellbeing. Thank you so much.
Reception staff always very friendly, helpful and pleasant . Paul is amazing and my injections pain free .
I found everything from booking the appointment, payment, assessment and treatment to be very efficient and professional. I particularly found the practitioner Paul Harrison to be highly professional, took time to undertake a full assessment and carry out the treatment as gently as possible. I would have no hesitation using your service in the future.
Doctor was very friendly, knowledgable and professional, explained the process and did not feel anything. Definitely recommend
Joint injections reduce the effectiveness of your body's immune system temporarily, in order to reduce inflammation, which in turn can relieve pain from conditions such as arthritis. As vaccinations inject a small dose of a pathogen into your body, allowing your immune system to fight it off, you are not able to have a steroid injection when you have either had a vaccination, or are about to have one. If you require a vaccination for work or travel by a specific date, and also are in need of a steroid injection, please speak to your clinician so that they can advise you on how to proceed.

It is generally advised to not have more than three joint injections into the same part of the body within a year. There is evidence to suggest that too many joint injections in one area can cause damage to the tissue inside the body. Depending on your symptoms, your doctor may suggest less than the maximum of three within a year.

You should discuss with your doctor or healthcare professional about having steroid injections if you have diabetes, as the injection can raise your blood sugar levels for a few days afterwards. It is important to monitor your blood sugar levels after a steroid injection.

Yes, you can take other medicines with steroid injections. An exception to this is if you have been prescribed a blood thinning drug, or anticoagulant. These include drugs such as warfarin and heparin. If you are taking any blood thinning medication, before your appointment, you may need to have an extra blood test to ensure that your blood is not too thin. If your blood is too thin, you run the risk of bleeding into the joint when you have the injection. Please let one of our Patient Care Advisors know that you are taking anticoagulants when you book your appointment, as you may be advised to adjust the dosage before having the treatment.

Joint injections are anti-inflammatory steroid injections that contain hydrocortisone. They release slowly into the joint, reducing pain and swelling. Joint injections are also known as inter-articular injections. Usually the effects can last from several months to a year and may need to be taken again at a later date.

At Provide Wellbeing, we offer joint injections to reduce pain and inflammation quickly and effectively to treat soft tissue conditions. Joint injections are available from our brand new Clinic Centre on The Crescent in Colchester. Our experienced clinical team can treat a variety of joint conditions by targeting the affected area with an injection that releases slowly into the joint for long-lasting relief.
How can Joint Injections help me?
Our joint injection treatment involves injecting anti-inflammatory steroids into areas of the body that are experiencing isolated swelling, tenderness or pain to provide relief. It is known as an intra-articular injection because it works on the joints of your body that connect to each other.
Steroid injections are often recommended for people with rheumatoid arthritis and other types of inflammatory arthritis. They may also be recommended for osteoarthritis if your joints are particularly painful.
Steroids are hormones that occur naturally in the human body, and are produced by the adrenal glands. These are different to anabolic steroids that are used to increase muscle mass in sport. Man-made steroids act like natural steroids to make movement easier. A steroid mixture can be injected around a joint to relieve pain and bring down swelling. Some steroids are combined with local anaesthetic to provide additional pain relief.
There are two different types of joint injections - those that begin to relieve pain in a couple of hours with effects lasting for around a week, and those that take around a week to take effect, but can relieve symptoms for longer. The durations differ due to how soluble the steroid is. These injections can be administered directly into the inflamed joint, into the soft tissue near to the joint, or into a muscle.
What are Ostenil Plus Injections?
Ostenil Plus is a solution designed to ease the symptoms of arthritis, including stiffness and pain. It contains Hyaluronic Acid, and is injected into the space in the joint that contains synovial fluid, restoring a healthy balance between the breakdown and production of Hyaluronic Acid. Ostenil Plus also contains Mannitol, which increases the efficiency of the Hyaluronic Acid, meaning that symptoms can be reduced in just one injection.
Treatment Information
Joint injections are a simple procedure that your clinician will talk you through. You may need an ultrasound scan to locate the swelling, allowing your clinician to precisely target the source of the inflammation. The effects of a joint injection can last from several months to a year. They are used to target specific areas of the musculoskeletal system to improve mobility and treat swelling. We recommend that you take it easy for two weeks and avoid strenuous exercise following your injection to minimise the risk of damaging a tendon. After this period, it is important to keep going with any exercises given to you by your clinician or your GP, beginning gently and working up to more regular activity.
If you are having physiotherapy, speak to your physiotherapist, who will advise you on the best balance between resting and exercising. You may experience some slight discomfort when the injection is administered, and may also experience a flare-up in your joint pain within the first 24 hours after your injection. Taking pain relief can help with this until it settles by itself. We recommend that you don't have steroid injections in the same site more than three times in a year due to the risk of tissue damage - you may need fewer injections depending on the severity of your pain.
The different types of steroid you may have include hydracortisone, triamcinolone, or methylprednisolone.
