OUR AUTISM & ADHD SERVICES
Accessing Our Autism and ADHD Services
Helping you navigate the right path to an Autism or ADHD assessment.
Whether you are seeking an NHS-funded assessment for your child/young person or a private pathway for yourself, we are here to provide a clear, clinically robust, and supportive experience. Choose your pathway below to see how to begin.
NHS funded services
We are currently an approved provider on the Mid & South Essex Integrated Care Board (ICB) framework for Children and Young People’s Autism and ADHD services, which requires a referral from your GP.
This is a locally commissioned NHS pathway, which means it is only available to children and young people whose GP is registered in Mid & South Essex and who reside in this area.
This pathway may be right for you if:
- You want an NHS pathway
- Your child/young person is registered with a GP in Mid & South Essex
If you want to follow this pathway, you can download this form to take to your GP and request a referral to Provide Wellbeing. Please ask your GP to submit this electronically via Electronic Referral System (e-RS) to ensure it is processed quickly. Please note the referral will not be accepted if sent via SystmOne.
If you’re still not sure, you can find out more about this pathway in the link below:

Self-pay assessments
We offer self-pay autism, ADHD and combined assessments for children, young people, and adults. This pathway may be right for you if you:
- Don’t want to wait for an NHS assessment.
- Need an assessment for an adult.
- Are seeking an alternative to the NHS route or live outside of our current commissioned areas.
Self-pay routes:
- Do not require a GP referral.
- Are available for children, young people, and adults.
- Follow the same clinical standards and diagnostic guidance
Our self-pay service offers an integrated journey from assessment through to treatment and medication titration, where appropriate.

NHS pathways are fully funded and are commissioned by the NHS.
NHS-funded access depends on:
- Which Integrated Care Board (ICB) your GP belongs to, and
- Which NHS contracts are currently live in that area.
Some NHS services are:
- Local pathways (only open to patients with a GP and live in that area), or
- Right to Choose pathways (a national NHS right, when contracts are in place).
How to use these services:
- Right to Choose (England): To use this option for assessments (autism, ADHD and combined), a GP must formally refer you to a specific provider, even if you fill out the self-report forms.
NHS neurodevelopmental services are commissioned locally.
This means:
- Your GP practice location and your home address, determines which NHS pathways you can use.
- Some services are only available if your GP is based in a specific ICB area.
- Even when a service is planned or “coming soon”, GPs can only refer once the NHS contract is fully live.
If you’re unsure which ICB your GP belongs to, your GP practice can confirm this for you.
Which route applies to me or my child/young person?
You can use this simple guide:
- My GP is in an area where Provide Wellbeing has an active NHS contract
You may be able to access our services through an NHS local pathway.
- My GP is in England and I want to use Right to Choose
This is only possible once a Right to Choose contract is live in your area.
- I want to access an assessment without waiting for NHS pathways
A self-pay assessment may be an option.
Because availability changes over time, we always recommend checking the current pathway status before asking your GP to refer.
Autism, ADHD and combined assessments
- Use recognised diagnostic frameworks (DSM-5 / ICD-11)
- Are consistent with the standards used across our NHS services
