Service Update: Changes to NHS Right to Choose Autism Assessments

From Sunday 1 June 2025, we will no longer be able to accept new referrals for autism assessments for children through the NHS Right to Choose pathway.

This change is due to the conclusion of our qualifying contract under the RtC scheme. We understand that families may have questions and concerns, especially those currently navigating the referral process, and we want to reassure you that we are here to support you through this transition.

What does this mean for families:

If your child’s Right to Choose referral is already in progress

If the GP referral for your child has already been submitted, you do not need to take further action – this includes any GP referrals up to and including Saturday 31 May 2025. Your assessment will still go ahead as planned and your child will remain on our waiting list with an appointment being booked in due course.

From Sunday 1 June 2025, no new Right to Choose referrals can be accepted

We will no longer be able to accept any new referrals for autism assessments through the NHS Right to Choose scheme from Sunday 1 June 2025. Any new enquiries received after this point will not be eligible under Right to Choose.

We had hoped to not have been in this position, but securing a new qualifying contract has been delayed and taken longer than we had anticipated.  We apologise for any distress this may cause families waiting to see us or exploring whether to be referred to us. We want to assure you we are doing everything we can to be able to restart this service.

Can I still access an autism assessment?

Yes, we continue to offer self-pay autism assessments for children and young people. This route offers timely access, expert-led care, and a supportive experience tailored to your family’s needs.
