Provide Wellbeing offers the No-Scalpel Vasectomy service from a variety of clinics across Essex, Suffolk and Hertfordshire. This vasectomy procedure is a popular, reliable and straightforward method of permanent contraception, which does not require an overnight stay in hospital. We are able to offer no-scalpel vasectomies as either a self-pay service or NHS (depending on where you are registered with a GP).

Is a No-Scalpel Vasectomy right for me?
If you are certain that you do not want to father children in the future and would like a permanent method of contraception, our No-Scalpel Vasectomy service offers a solution. Provide Wellbeing uses this method as it is proven to cause less discomfort compared to the traditional vasectomy method, and requires no stitches, allowing for faster recovery.
Treatment Information
The No-Scalpel Vasectomy method is a newer clinical procedure that is now routinely performed around the world. Our highly skilled doctors will use a specialist instrument, rather than a scalpel, to make a tiny hole in the skin of the scrotum in order to reach your vas deferens tubes (the tubes that carry the sperm from the testicles) and seal them to prevent sperm from being ejaculated. This is performed with local anaesthetic for minimal discomfort.
NHS Patients
Your first appointment will be a short consultation with our clinician to talk you through your decision to have a vasectomy. Following the short consultation, if you are happy to proceed, we will book you for the procedure itself.
A 10 day ‘cooling off period’ is required between your pre-consultation and your procedure. Your appointment for surgery will last approximately 30 to 45 minutes and you may then return home immediately.
Self-Pay Patients
Your appointment will begin with a short consultation with our clinician to talk you through your decision to have a vasectomy and the procedure. This is to ensure that you are fully aware of the permanent nature of the procedure.
Following the short consultation, if you are happy to proceed on the day, and the clinician is satisfied that you are fit and well, they will perform your No-Scalpel Vasectomy and you may then return home
After the procedure
Following the procedure you may feel some soreness for a few days, which can be relieved by taking painkillers. You will typically need 48 hours’ rest after the vasectomy, after which you will be able to return to work. If your work involves a lot of manual heavy lifting, you may need to take a full week to recover – this can be discussed with your clinician.
You will not become sterile immediately following your vasectomy, meaning that you and your partner will need to use another form of birth control until your semen has been tested (after 16 weeks). At your appointment we will provide you with the necessary information regarding a Post-Vasectomy Semen Test. You do not need to come back to the clinic for the semen test as your semen sample is sent straight to the lab for testing.

These prices are inclusive of VAT. These appointments take place at our brand new Clinic Centre on The Crescent in Colchester, Essex.
Your appointment will be 30 minutes long – this includes the No-Scalpel Vasectomy and a prior consultation with the doctor, where the procedure and aftercare process will be explained, and the doctor will be able to answer any questions you may have. The procedure itself can be completed in about 15 minutes, after which you can return home.
