Provide Wellbeing champions World Vasectomy Day and Men’s Health Awareness Month

As World Vasectomy Day approaches on Friday 15 November, during Men’s Health Awareness Month (November), we are leading a campaign to promote awareness, debunk myths, and foster open conversations around men’s reproductive health.

This initiative underscores the importance of informed decision-making and the benefits of modern vasectomy procedures, with a special focus on the innovative no-scalpel technique.

Misunderstandings around vasectomies often deter men from considering this effective form of contraception. One of the most widespread myths suggests that vasectomies impact masculinity or hormone levels. In reality, vasectomies do not alter testosterone levels, physical health, or sexual function. The procedure only prevents sperm from mixing with semen, leaving all other aspects unchanged. We are committed to educating the public on these facts to foster confidence and informed choices.

Caroline Brock, General Manager, Surgical and Allied Services, from Provide Wellbeing said: “World Vasectomy Day is an opportunity to challenge the stigma surrounding men’s role in family planning.

“World Vasectomy Day is more than an awareness event, it’s a call to action for men to recognise their role in family planning and make informed, confident decisions. At Provide Wellbeing, we’re proud to offer the no-scalpel vasectomy as a safe, effective, and modern approach that aligns with our commitment to comprehensive men’s health services.”

The no-scalpel vasectomy has transformed perceptions of male contraceptive procedures, offering a minimally invasive, safe, and highly effective option. This technique is associated with reduced discomfort and quicker recovery times, with most men being able to go back to work after 48 hours. The no-scalpel approach empowers men to take charge of their reproductive health with minimal disruption to their daily lives.

We are proud to partner with the NHS, offering convenient self-referral NHS appointments for patients registered with GP practices in Hertfordshire. Patients registered with a GP practice in North East Essex or Suffolk can access the NHS service by visiting their local GP for a referral.

Additionally, we provide a flexible self-pay option, enabling patients to access appointments at any of our clinics with minimal waiting times.

This dual approach ensures that all patients receive prompt, high-quality care tailored to their needs, whether through NHS pathways or self-funded access.
